Attaching your Unique Door Knocker by designer Michael Healy:
Your door knocker was designed for easy mounting on the surface of your door.
The door knocker is attached to black mounting bracket which is screwed directly
to your door. The enclosed metal screws work well with both wood, composite and
metal doors.
1. Hold Knocker in desired position on your door and mark hole locations with
pencil.
2. Drill guide holes using a 1/8 inch drill bit. Screws accept Phillip’s head
screwdriver. You don't need to drill through entire door to install. Each
Michael Healy knocker comes with 2 machine screws designed for surface mounting
on both metal and wood doors.
3. Some designs require body of Knocker be removed before mounting bracket can
be attached.
4. Screw mounting bracket into desired position. If required, re-attach body of
Knocker to mounting bracket. (Each designer Knocker has mounting bracket and
striker plate that attach to door. The face of knocker lifts and hits against
the plate.)
Caring for your designer Door Knocker :
Do the door knockers and ringers require special care? Each door knocker is
coated with a clear baked polyurethane finish. This protective finish is similar
to the clear top coat on an automobile. Washing the door knockers with a mild
soap and water mixture will help to maintain its finish. Occasionally coating
the door knockers with car wax will greatly extend the life of the original
finish. Do not use a brass cleaner or an abrasive pad as these will damage the
clear coating and the original finish.
Is the finish affected by salt water? All Michael Healy door knockers
receive the same protective coating. If properly cared for, there will be no
difference in the durability of the various finishes based on the proximity to
salt water.
