Good to know:
Picnics are, by nature, a carefree, casual meal. Whether in the wilderness, a local park or your own backyard, you're well on
your way to enjoying the pleasure of the picnic. Picnics require some careful
planning. In preparation for your picnic, here are some things to consider:
Start with the picnic basket itself. If you haven't shopped for a picnic
basket lately, you'll be surprised by how elaborate they've become. Transport
wine and cheese in an insulated picnic cooler or in a specially-crafted picnic wine backpack to keep both appropriately
chilled. You can find a wide selection with special compartments and straps for
keeping dishes, cutlery, wine bottles and even glassware in place safely.
Plan your menu by selecting foods that travel easily and safely in a picnic
basket, cooler. When packing foods in the cooler, be sure to leave plenty of
room for the ice. Add frozen juice boxes to use as ice in the cooler or wine
backpack. Chill ingredients in the refrigerator and transfer them to an
insulated picnic cooler or picnic basket when you are ready to go. When going to
the picnic, it’s better to carry the cooler or picnic backpack in an
air-conditioned car rather than in a hot trunk.
